Pune, Sept. 19 -- A retired bank officer in Pune was allegedly cheated of over Rs 4.06 crore by his own relatives on the pretext of a secret intelligence agency mission. The victim was promised a reward of Rs 38 crore for his participation.

According to the complaint filed by Suryakant Dattatray Thorat (53), a retired officer of Saraswat Bank, he was lured with promises of a job in the "secret service" between 2019 and 2024. His brother-in-law Sunil Babanrao Prabhale and nephew Shubham Prabhale allegedly told him that Shubham was working for the intelligence agency and would receive a large reward, for which Thorat was asked to pay "processing charges" and "legal fees."
