Chennai, Dec. 3 -- Torrential rails lashed Chennai and neighbouring districts, as the remnant ofCyclonic Storm Ditwah moved away 40 km the city coast, despite which more rains are likely tilltomorrow.
Meanwhile, torrential rains hit Chennai and suburbs since tonight, further inundating several low lyingareas, even as rescue and relief works are being undertaken by te civic authorities.
The rains, which poured incessantly since morning, gathered steam as the day progressed and itssteam further intensified in the evening and night, coming down heavily as the system stayed closedto the city before it started moving.
