Mumbai, Feb. 17 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday criticised BJP and Shinde Sena workers for putting up posters across the city greeting French President Emmanuel Macron stating that foreign dignitaries are welcomed by the government and not by political parties.

Talking to mediapersons, he stressed that proper protocol and courtesy must be maintained during such high-profile visits.

Raut questioned the widespread display of banners and hoardings across the city, asking why the matter was being politicised. He remarked that the posters created an impression as though Macron was India's President and said that political groups "should refrain from appropriating official diplomatic visits".
