Mumbai, Jan. 25 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament Sanjay Raut on Sunday shed light on the political reunion of estranged cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray stating that the decision was driven by emotional considerations and the larger objective of Maratha unity rather than electoral compulsions.
Addressing a press meet, Raut said it was a significant development that the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena jointly contested the BMC polls and secured a combined total of 71 seats. Of these, the Shiv Sena (UBT) emerged as the dominant partner with 65 seats, while the MNS won six seats, marking a significant partnership between the two Thackeray-led parties.
