Trivandrum, Feb. 9 -- Unbeaten knocks of 110 from Sachin Baby and 76 from Akshay Chandran put Kerala in a promising position after early hiccups against Bengal on day one of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match here on Friday.

The hosts were with 265/5 at draw of stumps on day one of the match at the St. Xavier's College Ground

Recovering from early setbacks ( 112/4) the hosts reached a respectable score, thanks to an unfinished 153-run stand for the fifth wicket between Sachin and Akshay.

For the visitors, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal (1-40), Akash Deep (1-55), Shahbaz Ahmed (1-59) and Ankit Mishra (1-53) were impressive with the ball.
