Thiruvananthapuram, Feb. 13 -- The Indian National Congress has appointed senior leader Ramesh Chennithala as the chairman of its election campaign committee for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.

The decision was announced as part of the party's preparations to strengthen its organisational structure ahead of the crucial polls.

Chennithala, a former Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly and a veteran Congress leader, will be responsible for coordinating the party's campaign strategy and activities across the state. The party has also named Shashi Tharoor MP as the co-chairman of the campaign committee, while Shafi Parambil will serve as the convenor.
