Shillong, Jan. 15 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday said that the state government would proceed with the proposed railway project in the Khasi-Jaintia region only after achieving broad consensus through consultations with all stakeholders.

"We are very clear, we are going to move forward only when we are able to consult and get everybody on board," Sangma told reporters.

The state government had constituted an all-party committee to deliberate on the project, but some political parties have so far declined to be part of the process.
