Chandigarh, March 10 -- In a gesture that underscored a personal bond formed years ago, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited Gohana in Haryana's Sonipat to attend the wedding of a marginal farmer's daughter.
The visit was to the household of Sanjay, a farmer whose fields Gandhi had famously driven a tractor and participated in paddy transplantation nearly three years ago.
Arriving at 10:10 am, Gandhi was received by Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda and the host family. In keeping with local tradition, he was honoured with a 'Haryanvi Pagri' (turban), a symbol of respect in the region.
During his hour-long stay, the Congress leader sat on the floor among the wedding guests, engaging with the family about local customs and traditions. ...
