Kolkata, May 17 -- BJP MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato on Saturday wrote to the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court T. S. Sivagnanam seeking his suo motu action on the Police's "brutal" lathi-charge on protesting dismissed teachers in front of Bikash Bhavan at New Town in the city on Thursday.

"I have written to the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court seeking suo motu action on the brutal police crackdown on protesting teachers on May 15, in which over 30 were critically injured," BJP's Lok Sabha Member from Purulia told reporters.
