Chandigarh, Dec. 4 -- India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar informed the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that Punjab has recorded the highest number of human trafficking cases in the country. Responding during Question Hour, he said the Punjab government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a fact-finding committee to probe rising cases linked to illegal migration networks.
According to the minister, 25 FIRs have been filed against 58 unregistered travel agents operating in Punjab, with 16 individuals already arrested.
