Chandigarh, Jan. 30 -- In a major push to ensure the integrity of the electoral process ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, Punjab is set to undergo a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of its voter lists starting this February.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Punjab has initiated large-scale preparations following a virtual high-level meeting with the Election Commission of India (ECI), where the schedule for the state was finalised for the February-March window.

The exercise follows a massive nationwide cleanup where the first phase of SIR across 12 states and union Territories resulted in the removal of approximately 6.59 crore ineligible voters from draft lists.
