Chandigarh, Sept. 18 -- In a major crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, Punjab Police dismantled a narcotics syndicate operating in the Malwa region, arresting Yasin Muhammad, a 22-year-old from Atwa village, Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, with 7.1 kilograms of heroin.

The operation targeted a network led by Moga resident Jagpreet Singh, alias Jagga, as confirmed by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.

Yasin, currently residing in Lalru, Mohali, has a criminal record involving the Arms Act, NDPS Act, theft, and snatching. Acting on Jagga's instructions, he retrieved a drone-dropped heroin consignment from Pakistani smugglers in the Ajnala sector, Amritsar.
