Chandigarh, Aug. 23 -- : In a fresh controversy rocking Punjab's political landscape, the Punjab State Commission for Minorities has urged union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu to issue a public apology to the Christian community for his alleged "unauthorized and unconstitutional" statements made against them in recent days.
The commission's chairman, Jatinder Pal Singh Gaurav (also known as Gaurav Masih), has written a formal letter to the Punjab government's Principal Secretary, appealing to the Central government to restrain Bittu from making such remarks in the future.
