New Delhi/Mohali, Jan. 23 -- The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab launched the 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna' on Thursday, a health insurance scheme that promises free treatment coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per family at empaneled public and private hospitals.

The scheme was inaugurated in Mohali by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who handed out health cards to initial beneficiaries. The government states the scheme is universal, with no income criteria, and is intended for all of Punjab's approximately 65 lakh families.
