Chandigarh, Sept. 8 -- The ongoing flood crisis in Punjab has impacted over 3.87 lakh people across 15 districts, with the death toll rising to 51, including three additional fatalities reported in Mansa, Moga, and Patiala in the last 24 hours, a senior minister said today.
S. Hardeep Singh Mundian, Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management, said the floods have caused extensive agricultural damage, with crop losses spanning 1,84,938.05 hectares.
Assessments for damaged homes and livestock are ongoing, with comprehensive reports expected once the floodwaters recede.
Rescue and relief efforts are on in full swing, with 23,015 individuals evacuated so far, including 77 in the past day.
