Pune, Oct. 2 -- The birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri were observed at Congress Bhavan by the Pune City District Congress Committee here today.
City Congress president Arvind Shinde and former IAS officer, ex-president of the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan Laxmikant Deshmukh offered floral tributes to the portraits of Gandhi and Shastri.
Speaking on the occasion, Deshmukh said Gandhian thoughts were most relevant in present times when attempts were being made to create discord in society.
