New Delhi/Shimla, Feb. 7 -- The process of separating civilian areas of 38 cantonment boards currently with the Ministery of Defence and merging them with the states' nearby municipal bodies has gathered pace. These include six contonment boards of Himachal Pradesh.
The information was shared in reply to a written query raised by the MP under Rule 377 in the Lok Sabha recently.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has informed BJP Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh Suresh Kashyap that the Ministry is actively deliberating with respective state governments regarding the separation or merger of civilian areas of cantonments for improved administration and development.
