Aizawl, Aug. 28 -- The Non-Government Hospital Association of Mizoram (NGHAM) has refuted health minister Lalrinpuii's statement in the assembly that private hospitals are unwillingto join the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS) because they oppose a cashless system.
NGHAM secretary Hmingtea Chhangte said the association had never rejected the cashless system outright. Instead, it had written to the state government on June 30, offering two proposals. One suggested that patients pay the balance whenever hospital costs exceeded the MUHCS package rates.
Alternatively, private hospitals could continue charging patients as per the existing NGHAM ratesif the state government did not agree to the first option.
