Kollam, Feb. 5 -- Unnikrishnan Potty, the prime accused in the high-profile Sabarimala temple gold theft case, has been granted statutory bail in a second case, paving the way for his release from prison later on Thursday.
The Vigilance Court in Kollam ruled in his favor after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) failed to file a chargesheet within the 90-day statutory period following his arrest in October 2025.
Potty was earlier granted bail in a separate case involving the alleged misappropriation of gold from the Dwarapalaka idols of the Sabarimala temple. With bail now granted in both the Dwarapalaka and the door frame theft cases, he is expected to be released from jail later on Thursday.
