Lucknow, Dec. 21 -- The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all higher educational institutions across the country to take immediate and effective steps to prevent the entry and residence of stray dogs on the campuses.
These directions have been issued in compliance with the Supreme Court's order dated November 7, 2025, which had expressed concern over the increasing incidents of dog bites in institutional areas.
The letter issued by UGC Secretary Prof. Manish R. Joshi said that the safety of students, teachers and staff is of paramount importance. Under this, all universities and colleges will have to compulsorily implement four major steps.
