Moscow, April 30 -- Powered mainly by China and India, the BRICS' share in the global economy has grown substantially, reaching a record 36.8%, with the gap between the G7 nations and BRICS widening, as per data gathered from last year.
According to RIA Novosti calculations based on IMF data, the contribution of the BRICS countries to global GDP increased by 0.64 percentage points, according to Sputnik.
In comparison, the G7 lost 0.42 percentage points - with its share falling below 29% for the first time (recorded to be 28.86%).
As such, the gap between the BRICS and the G7 has widened to a record 8% points, up from 6.9 a year earlier.
