Puducherry, April 9 -- Tension prevailed at Thirukkanur in Mannadipet constituency as police resorted to a lathicharge to quell a clash between Congress and BJP workers in a polling booth.
According to sources, the fight in Manandipet constituency is between the BJP and the Congress. Home Minister A Namasivayam is pitted against former Congress Deputy Speaker Selvam.
A large number of BJP workers thronged the polling booth at the Thirukkanur Government Higher secondary school following which Congress volunteers who came there quesitoned their presence and aruged that only the voters are supposed to present in the booth.
