Puducherry, April 5 -- An employee of the Puducherry administration attached to the Education department was suspended for canvassing in support of a candiate violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) which was in force for the April 9 Assembly elections.
District Election Officer (DEO) Kulothungan in a release here said, the Election Commission of India has notified elections to the Puducherry Assembly on March 15 and the MCC came into force from that day.
The Puducherry Election Department had already intimated government employees not to indulge in any sort of politics.
Meanwhile, the said employee was found canvassing for a candidate contesting the elections at Orleanpet constituency.
