Chennai, April 23 -- The single phase polling to elect the new 234-member 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assemby came to and end on Thursday evening and passed off peacefully after witnessing a record all time high turn out of over 89 per cent and is all set to create history crossing the 90 per cent mark for the first time ever in the annals of TN's electoral politics.
The polling which commenced at 79,064 booths at 7.00 AM in the morning, ended at 6.00 PM in the high-stake polls that witnessed a no-holds barred four-cornered contest.
