Ranchi, Jan. 29 -- Political temperature rose sharply in Jharkhand over the exclusion of a large number of newly eligible young voters from the forthcoming urban local body elections. Thousands of youths who have attained the age of 18 in recent months are likely to be deprived of their voting rights in these elections.

The State Election Commission has decided to conduct the urban local body elections on the basis of the voter list published by the Election Commission of India on October 1, 2024. Following this decision sharp exchanges have begun between the ruling alliance and the opposition.
