Varanasi, Feb. 28 -- In Varanasi, police have intensified action against Shubham Jaiswal, the alleged kingpin of a gang involved in the smuggling of codeine-based cough syrup, who has been absconding for several months.
Authorities have secured a non-bailable warrant against him in connection with the PD Pharma case, police said on Saturday. According to officials, Jaiswal is currently believed to be hiding in Dubai.
A day earlier, in connection with the recovery of 500 cartons of cough syrup from the basement of a gym in Bhadwar area of Rohania, a court had ordered Jaiswal to appear by March 30.
