Srinagar, Sept. 12 -- In a major crackdown on the sale of rotten and unhygienic meat, Srinagar police have registered 6 FIRs against individuals and establishments across the district.
Police said the action was taken following reports of serious violations posing a threat to public health.
The drive was carried out in coordination with the civil administration and the Department of Food Safety.
The 6 FIRs have been lodged at police stations in Lal Bazar, Bemina, Batamaloo, Safakadal, Ram Munshi Bagh, and Zakura.
"During inspections, significant quantities of rotten meat were recovered. The items were confiscated and destroyed as per protocol," police said.
