Chandigarh, Sept. 20 -- In a significant breakthrough in Punjab's fight against drug trafficking, the Counter Intelligence (CI) unit in Amritsar has dismantled a cross-border narcotics smuggling operation, arresting one individual and recovering 5.032 kgs of heroin. The operation, aligned with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's directive for a drug-free Punjab, was announced by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday.
The arrested suspect, Pawandeep Singh from Beharwal village in Amritsar, was apprehended while attempting to deliver the consignment.
