Chennao, Dec. 24 -- A POCSO Court in neighbouring Tiruvallur district convicted and sentencedthe lone accused in the school girl kidnap and sexual assault case to double life imprisonment.
The Court convicted the accused after the prosecution has proved the case beyond any reasonabledoubt.
Delivering the eagerly awaited verdict in the sensational case, that triggered protests from variouspolitical parties, especially the Opposition due to delay in nabbing the accused, the court imposeda fine of Rs 1.46 lakh on the accused, who is a native of Assam.
The Court also awarded Rs seven lakh compensation to the victim.
