New Delhi, Feb. 27 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme for 14-year-old girls on Saturday from Ajmer, Rajasthan, the Health Ministry said in an official announcement on Friday.
The programme aims to vaccinate nearly 1.15 crore girls annually across States and union Territories, marking India's entry into large-scale preventive vaccination against cervical cancer.
Vaccine doses will be administered free of cost at government health facilities, including Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, primary and community health centres, district hospitals and government medical colleges, according to the official document.
