Mumbai, Feb. 22 -- A city-based lawyer has filed a civil writ petition before the Bombay High Court challenging the Maharashtra government's decision to scrap the 12-year-old 5 per cent quota for Muslims in education, semi-government and government jobs, lawyer said today.
The plea was moved by Dr Syed Ejaz Abbas through his Advocate Nitin Satpute.
The petitioners have sought urgent hearing.
A Government Resolution (GR) cancelling the resolution was notified on 17 February.
