New York, March 23 -- An Air Canada plane crashed into a fire truck on the runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport late on Sunday, injuring several emergency personnel and prompting a temporary shutdown of the airport, New York Post reported.

The aircraft, a Bombardier CRJ-900 operated by Jazz Aviation, had arrived from Montreal and was taxiing toward the gate when it struck the vehicle on Runway 4 shortly before midnight, New York post reported.

At least four firefighters were critically injured in the collision, according to local media reports citing sources. Around 100 passengers were on board the aircraft, and their conditions were being assessed.
