Mumbai, Feb. 13 -- The Sahar police have completed the process of cancelling the taxi permits and driving licences of two drivers accused of overcharging an American tourist Rs 18,000 for a journey of barely 400 metres. The proposal has been forwarded to the Regional Transport Office for further action, an official said on Friday.
Documents seeking cancellation of the taxi permit have been sent to the Tardeo RTO, while those related to the driving licences have been forwarded to the Andheri RTO. Senior Police Inspector Manoj Chalake of Sahar police station said the police would closely monitor the cancellation process. Both accused are presently in judicial custody.
