New Delhi, Dec. 20 -- The Press Club of India has expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the violent attacks, vandalism and arson at the offices of two prominent Bangladeshi dailies -- Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, by mobs in Dhaka following news of the death of July Uprising figure Osman Hadi on Thursday night.

In a statement, the PCI also condemned the harassment of the President of the Editors' Council and Editor of New Age, veteran journalist Nurul Kabir, who was heckled and pushed by a mob on Thursday night when he went to the Daily Star office after it was vandalised and set ablaze by protesters.
