Lucknow, Jan. 30 -- The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has intensified action against the codeine cough syrup smuggling racket after the passport of its alleged mastermind, Shubham Jaiswal, was cancelled.

With the cancellation, Jaiswal's stay in Dubai has become illegal, significantly increasing his legal troubles.

Officials said that following the issuance of a Look Out Circular (LOC), the cancellation of Jaiswal's Indian passport means he can no longer legally remain abroad. As per rules, if an Indian citizen's passport is cancelled while one is already overseas, their stay in that country becomes illegal, and the host nation may deport him to India.
