Bengaluru, Feb. 23 -- The political leadership debate in Karnataka has intensified after senior minister G Parameshwara accused the opposition parties of raising the demand for a Dalit Chief Minister to cover up their own shortcomings.

Parameshwara questioned whether the present Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was not already governing the state and asserted that it was the Opposition bringing up the Dalit CM factor. He added that the Indian National Congress has a history of appointing Dalit leaders to top posts and that any decision on leadership would be taken by the party high command at the appropriate time.
