Shimla, March 28 -- Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh informed that the State Government may consider granting daily wage status to 1,394 remaining Panchayat chowkidars.
He said that as of August 31, 2022, there are 2,912 chowkidars in the state, of whom 1,518 have already been made daily wagers. The department has identified 474 chowkidars who have completed 12 years of service and would be regularised.
He added that if the figure of 650, as cited by members, is found correct, the matter would be placed before the Cabinet for approval. The query was raised by MLA Hardeep Singh Bawa.
