Medininagar (Jharkhand), April 10 -- Police in Jharkhand's Palamu district have launched an investigation into the supply of illegal ammunition to criminal gangs following recent seizures of firearms and cartridges.

Superintendent of Police Reeshma Ramesan said action against criminal groups has led to recovery of weapons and ammunition, raising concerns over the source and supply chain.

She said, "Police are carrying out a sustained drive against criminals and those facilitating the supply of arms and ammunition. Several inputs have been received and action is underway."Officials said recent encounters indicated the use of foreign-made pistols, including those manufactured in Italy and the United States.
