Pathanamthitta, Jan. 11 -- Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Pathanamthitta District Magistrate Court on Sunday, following his arrest in connection with a rape complaint.
Mamkootathil was taken into custody from Palakkad around 12:30 AM by the State Crime Branch after a complaint was submitted via email. He was then brought to the Pathanamthitta AR Camp, where the arrest was formally recorded, and later produced before the magistrate's court after questioning.
During his transfer from the Pathanamthitta General Hospital, protesters affiliated with DYFI and Yuvamorch clashed with police.
