New Delhi, Feb. 27 -- The Pulitzer Center-supported documentary 'Democracy in Debt: Sri Lanka Beyond the Headlines' will receive two awards at the Second Jalgaon International Film Festival in India this year, for 'Best Social Film' and 'Best Screenplay'.

The film, shot in Sri Lanka in 2024 after the country's economic collapse, highlights the struggles of farmers and teachers in a remote village in the North Central province. It also features perspectives from policy makers, economists, and the then-Prime Minister in the capital, Colombo.
