Mumbai, Feb. 13 -- Police have proposed cancellation of the licence and permit of a taxi driver who allegedly charged Rs 18,000 from an American tourist for travelling barely 400 metres in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.
The Sahar police have arrested the accused, identified as Yashraj Yadav alias Pappu, and sent a proposal to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) seeking cancellation of his driving licence as well as the taxi's permit.
Senior Police Inspector Manoj Chalake of Sahar police station said they will closely follow up on the matter of cancellation. The accused driver is currently in judicial custody.
