Chandigarh, Aug. 19 -- In a shocking environmental violation, vast stretches of hills in Siswan village, near New Chandigarh, have been leveled, and approximately 500 trees have been uprooted, allegedly in defiance of multiple conservation laws. The destruction, carried out with bulldozers, has sparked outrage among local residents and political leaders, who have accused authorities of inaction.
Senior Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vineet Joshi, accompanied by Siswan Sarpanch Sanjeev Sharma, Panch Amandeep Sharma, Lambardar Sher Khan, and other villagers, visited the site on Tuesday to highlight the scale of the devastation.
