Ranchi, Feb. 9 -- Under the National Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Programme, preventive medication will be administered by health workers in Sonahatu, Tamar and Kanke blocks of Ranchi district to protect people from filariasis (elephantiasis).

Officials said the medicines are completely safe and that regular consumption can provide full protection against the disease.

As part of the programme, the Mass Drug Administration (MDA) drive will be conducted on February 10, 2026, at 619 booths across the district.

The campaign will cover the affected blocks of Rahe, Tamar, Sonahatu and Kanke, including areas under the Kanke, Sonahatu and Tamar Community Health Centre jurisdictions.
