Bhubaneswar, Nov. 29 -- As many as 20,150 Anangawadi centres in Odisha do not have their own buildings, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who also holds the portfolio of Women & Child Development, told the state Assembly today.

Replying to a question of Ashwini Patra (BJD), the Deputy Chief Minister said the state has a total of 74,224 Anganwadi centres. Out of these, 54,074 centres operate from their own buildings. An additional 10,416 mini-centres have been upgraded to main centres as per the direction of the union government to ensure better and continuous early childhood care and education services delivery.

She said as many as 7,389 Anganwadi centres are under construction.
