Puducherry, April 27 -- For the second time in the history of the Indira Gandhi Government General hospital here, organs of a brain dead person were harvested and were donated.

According to an official release, K Varadan (46) of Seliyamedu here met with a road accident on 24 April and was brought to the government general hospital for treatment.

In spite of providing quality treatment, he was declared brain dead.

With the consent of his relatives, his two kidneys and two corneas were harvested. While the kidneys were donated to the JIPMER, the corneas were given to the government hospital, where the post-mortem of Varadan was performed.
