Lucknow, Oct. 4 -- The UP administration has put Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey, who is also Uttar Pradesh leader of Opposition, under house arrest citing security reasons in communally sensitive Bareilly following the party's decision to send a delegation headed by him to the district, official sources said.
The Bareilly District Magistrate (DM) has already issued orders barring political leaders from entering the district without prior permission. The DM also sent formal communication to the Lucknow Police Commissioner and other district police heads instructing them to prevent any unauthorized political visits to the area.
