Bhubaneswar, Jan. 22 -- The OPID Court-cum-Special Judge, Balasore, on Thursday convicted a drug peddler and sentenced him to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) along with a fine of Rs.1 lakh for trafficking brown sugar.
The court further ordered that in default of payment of the fine, the convict would undergo an additional one year of RI.
The convict, identified as Ashok Kumar Behera of Nayabazar under Sahadevkhunta police station in Balasore district, was booked under Sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 for dealing in contraband narcotics.
