Operating profit of Indian domestic airlines to drop in Q1 FY26: CRISIL Ratings
Chennai, Aug. 21 -- Owing to muted demand in the first quarter of FY26 and expected decline in yields, the Indian domestic airline industry will see operating profit going down by 11-14 percent to Rs. 20,000-21,000 crore this fiscal from about Rs. 23,500 crore last fiscal, credit rating agency CRISIL Ratings said today.
This is in contrast with the strong recovery seen in the three fiscals post the Covid-19 pandemic.
Driven by lower operating profit, debt metrics of airlines will moderate this fiscal, however, overall credit profiles will remain stable driven by healthy liquidity and planned equity infusion by some airlines.
