Chennai, April 13 -- One person was killed and three others seriously injured in a blast at a private cracker manufacturing unit at Chattrapatti village near Sattur in the southern Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Monday afternoon.
Police said more 30-40 workers were said be to working in the unit when a fire broke out, resulting in the blast.
A majority of them were engaged in work in adjacent sheds and escaped unhurt.
Police and fire service and rescue department personnel rushed to the spot, put out the fire after battilng for nearly an hourand retrieved one charred body from the debris.
Three others, who were seriously injured, were rushed to government hospital for treatment.
