Hyderabad, Feb. 20 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Friday expressed confidence that oil palm cultivation would bring long-term prosperity to farmers in the State.

The Minister participated as the chief guest in a mega oil palm plantation programme organised by the Horticulture and Sericulture Department in association with Hindustan Unilever Limited at Palvanchamarri village in Palvancha mandal of Kamareddy district.

After planting oil palm saplings on six-and-a-half acres of land belonging to farmer Singireddy Balaram, he said oil palm offers a viable alternative to traditional crops that often result in losses.
